  • Great exhibits on housing from the past. Farm homes and buildings are preserved and the different changes in technology are explained. The homes are outside on some steep hills, which could be challenging for some people to get around. The map and booklet were informative, but sometimes inaccurate. Only some of the many buildings are open to visitors.
  • It was pleasant enough - though many of the re erected houses were shut - and those open had no staff present - I suppose that this would be down to monetary reasons (?) However ,one thing that I was perplexed by was a map : On arrival ,one encountered reconstructed artifacts from the Viking era - chain mail ,sword ,shield etc .This was coupled with a potted history of the Vikings - including a map : The map showed as to where the Vikings romed - including the British isles .I was dismayed however that the British isles and it's respective countries - Scotland ,Wales and England wasn't labelled - written across Britain was 'ENGLAND' ........(?) I'm not being petty or pedantic here ; why wasn't the map labelled correctly ? One could have easily labelled the respective countries - or simply 'Britain' - but 'England' (?!) - that only constitutes on part of the isles . 'England' is only one part of Britain .
  • The perfect place for relaxing walk or walk with children. Maybe open a bit too short as for the summer season (exhibitions to 4 pm), but worth to see, especially for those interested in history and boats. Family ticket (2+3) - 170 NOK, of course you can have a walk for free if you do not enter any buildings and museum exhibitions.
  • A lovely scenic museum on fresh air in the middle of the city, a small museum building and lots of houses, granaries, sheds from all around Norway all showing how life has changed over the centuries. All that close to modern civilisation yet set in a nice park that gives you a feeling of rural area close to nature. A nice collection of boats from.different periods with a couple of working replicas of Viking boats. A nice place for an educational stroll with a whole family.
  • Most of the houses are closed, there are modern stuff thrown in the rooms like boxes and brooms and stuff, today they said they have an activity, they did not say when so we assumed that it is all day, after a long journey of trying to find the building we came to a room with a teenager who was whittling while listening to music and being on his phone. The whole thing ruined the illusion of being in the past
