Atlantic Sea Park, Alesund

4.2
#1 of 6 in Zoos & Aquariums in Western Norway
Attend a penguin feeding show at Atlantic Sea Park, where you can observe a diverse marine life calling the northwestern Norwegian coastline its home. Part of a promontory reaching far into the sea, the park features seal and penguin areas, designed to resemble the animals' natural surroundings. The highlight of the park, though, is one of the largest seawater tanks in Europe, filled with cold-water fish native to this area. Pumped full of unfiltered seawater, this tank provides the setting for a daily show during which a diver hand-feeds the resident fish. Look for anglerfish, herring, spiked dogfish, cuckoo wrasse, conger eels, mackerel, yearling fish, crabs, sea anemones, sea urchins, and many other strange and wonderful creatures. • So the whole thing is interesting, only made a scruffy impression on me, the discs were partly with algae, the toilets dirty bin so full that the rest lay on the ground, the towel dispenser break well, LR then 5 euros more entrance and well performed, is now already not a bargain but is also no fun , yet there's a good picture of life under the sea surface.

  • We have been to many aquariums around the world. You will notice a distinct absence of a large shark thank but I thought the aquarium was still thoughtfully laid out and well worth a trip. The rays in...  more »

  • Nice park with lots of sea life to admire from around Norway. We also watched the diver going to feed the fish in the big tank, which was great to watch. We also ate a good lunch here. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bit strange the last bus in summer goes back already so early, but that is something the park can't help.
  • Lovely place for grown-ups and children. The sea lions are shy but you have to be patient. 2 hours visit is recommended and better on weekends.
  • Lovely place to visit the for adults and children the amount of aquatic life to see is quite impressive and it's in a lovely scenic area too
  • Great exhibits. I've seen many penguins in my life but I've never seen any as playful as those I've seen here.
  • Extremely interesting and fun, great variety though the otters could be a little less shy.
