Atlantic Sea Park, Alesund

(4.2/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
Attend a penguin feeding show at Atlantic Sea Park, where you can observe a diverse marine life calling the northwestern Norwegian coastline its home. Part of a promontory reaching far into the sea, the park features seal and penguin areas, designed to resemble the animals' natural surroundings. The highlight of the park, though, is one of the largest seawater tanks in Europe, filled with cold-water fish native to this area. Pumped full of unfiltered seawater, this tank provides the setting for a daily show during which a diver hand-feeds the resident fish. Look for anglerfish, herring, spiked dogfish, cuckoo wrasse, conger eels, mackerel, yearling fish, crabs, sea anemones, sea urchins, and many other strange and wonderful creatures. • An outstanding opportunity to see close up the creatures beneath sea surface of our North Atlantic Seas. Good off road, flat parking. Ideal for all ages, easy to access even with moderate difficulty w...  more »
  • Ideal for families with small children. Something expensive entry. But the area out there is fine as a nice day it is wonderful for all. A bit of fun to see the Norwegian marine life

  • Highly recommend everyone to pay a visit to the Atlantic Park. Quiet and nice atmosphere. Much to look at. Nice snake man. Fun to get keep hose, both too small and too big. Funny to see the diver who feeds the fish. Definitely worth the money. Minus for the sur/irritated Lady in the ticket gate/souvernierbutikken.

  • A Brilliant Aquarium which is definitely one of both best I have been too. All the water is taken from Fjords or the Sea and so the effect of the ocean is captured perfectly. There lighting conditions are also replicated so the fish feel as if they are at home. My only suggestion would be to make the Penguin pen larger. I lived in the Falklands amongst thousands of Penguins and I feel the enclosure could have been more "natural"
  • A great aquarium. Nice shows, from feeding to diving, nice diversity and outdoors and a good price tag. A little bit small but overall a very enjoyable experience.
  • Technically it is possible to walk there from the downtown, though there is public transportation and the tourist "hop on / off" bus that will take you there. Unlike other aquariums, the Atlantic Sea Park focuses on local sea creatures, so you're not going to see a huge variety of fish, but it's very well built and structured with an hour or two of things to see at minimum, including seals, and hands-on crab, starfish, and anemone interaction for the kids.
  • Awesome place to just hang out and see all the different wildlife from around the area. Including outside seal pool and penguin habitat.
  • Great place, especially for kids. There is an activity room for learning all about the sea life!
