  • Even when empty, the square is a sight to behold. However, it's most memorable when it's packed with people - be it for a mass dance rehearsal or a communist procession.  more »

  • Arguably the most majestic public space in Pyongyang despite the political issues going on in the country and how the outside world portrays it. This is the testament that North Korea as a country is still a Kim Dynasty, the family that owns the country. To be there to witness that is a mixed feelings to many people, I personally feel that there's no where else in the world that you'd get this kind of tense environment by being particularly in this square, and it makes you wonder... if the people there are really satisfied as they appeared from the streets in Pyongyang or is there a side of Pyongyang that the mainstream media got to expose before us?
  • I would have rated this place 5 stars but I only can give it a 4 stars. I took a picture of the Great Leader here, and the police confiscated my camera and chopped off my right hand for being "a traitor of the state". Luckily, I am left handed and only use my right hand to wipe my ass. Great place to visit, just don't take pictures of the GREAT LEADER.
  • Not as cool as I would have liked. Should have been cooler due to this being the best person to ever walk the earth.
  • I came, I saw, I listened. Nobody named Kim would sing to me there. I was most disappointed and the local tea vender didn't smell or taste like tea, which upset me more rather than calmed me.
  • Glorious. No starving people anywhere. I would recommend a visit regardless of age or nationality.
