Things to do: religious sites, nature
A mountainous county, Hyangsan has long been a popular tourist destination with North Koreans, and the refurbishment of its striking, pyramid-shaped hotel in 2010 also gave a boost to international tourism. Most trips to Hyangsan will include hikes and drives up the main mountain that rises behind the hotel. There, you can explore a number of old temples, as well as one of the most famous museums in the country, displaying a collection of gifts successive leaders have received from foreign dignitaries. Plan how to spend your time in Hyangsan and other destinations in North Korea using our North Korea itinerary planner.

Stays in either hotel form part of wider official tours, with trips to local sites of interest, including the mountain and its temples.
