(4.5/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Formed by two volcanoes, Isla Ometepe is the largest island on the vast Lake Nicaragua. With a name meaning “two mountains” in Nahuatl, the remote island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, rich in culture, wildlife, and history. • Leave the port of Moyogalpa and venture else where on the island. There is so much to take your fancy. We stayed in Balgüe on the Maderas side of the island. It was such a slice of paradise, we loved ...  more »
  • We have here 2 nights seated in Moyogulpa. That is sat! In one, you can explore the island at all. Provided that you do not want to climb the volcano (8 h trekking). To explore the island you have 2 options. 1. You rent a scooter about 30 dollars a day. Then you have more freedom. 2. You rent a private driver in you rondreid all day with an air-conditioned car. This was 50th for a whole day. If you go, go just before Easter. It's what printer and you have great side to see the rodeo on Bulls.

  • An island with 2 volcanoes, it doesn't get any better. Oh, right, they also have some nice beaches a waterfall and cozy villages. Be sure to stay in one of the smaller villages, I loved Santa Cruz.  more »
