  • I went the museum of the revolution 3 years ago, and should have left a review then. It was one of the most inspiring places I have ever been. It reminded me of the value of travel--to try and step in...  more »
  • Very nice presentation of the Sandinista angle of Nica politics. I also did a city tour with a perfectly english speking guide. Most entertaining  more »
  • The Museum is well because the guides are ex-soldiers of the revolution. If you go, I recommend that you have a critical view, because they only have their side of the story.

  • I doubt Buckminster Fuller had traveled to Nicaragua, but he sure has some good advice for revolutionaries everywhere:" You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete." Would make a nice ruminator at the entrance to this crumbling edifice.
  • Even though our Spanish isn't the best, we understood enough from our guide to get the importance of the revolution and it's impact on the Nicaraguan people. Highly recommend!
  • This place needs support. I was told the current FSLN administration would like to turn the building over to the Catholic church, which is not lacking for real estate in León, to use as a museum. Make a donation on your way in, spring the $8 for the dvd - it's worthwhile - and by all means tip your guide. (You will feel brave for navigating the roof.) Yes, it's super run down and the displays are well-worn photos, but the history is worth preserving and telling. Nicaragua is an incredibly affordable destination for US tourists and I suspect your travel budget can absorb a $15 expense.
  • Our visit here was a complete waste of time. Unless you are REALLY interested in seeing some pictures of the 70's regarding nicaraguan revolution (which by the way are in very bad shape, not even hanged on the walls and very blurry), this will be totally worthless. I am very enthusiastic about the history of my country, buy this place is truly disappointing. The building is almost crumbling and the "guides" seem more like drunk people, killing time sitted in total disorder. They have no training at all and will waste your time with never-ending episodes of Imperialism against Latin American heroes and unnecessary details of the historical struggle of oppressed people (the one that we had to deal with claimed to be a guerilla warrior, but now looks and sounds more like a perturbed old man) that ironically will give you absolutely no valuable information about actual facts regarding the revolution era and the real people that shaped the present of this country. Some useful info if you still want to go: cost is 100 Cordobas (no distinction between locals and foreigners), the "collection" consist of one painted mural with the faces of Nicaraguan and Latin American allegedly heroes (Che Guevara included, for example) and two rooms with more painted symbols and some blurry pictures of FSLN prominent people (with no description at all). Too bad.
  • This shouldn't even be called a museum. I could've stay at my hostel and Google more about Nicaragua's Revolution than here. If you are open minded and curious feel free to check it out.
