Observe colonial and contemporary art in a complex of five colonial-era buildings connected together at Museo de Arte Fundacion Ortiz-Gurdian. The art collection consists mostly of Latin American art, though some sculptures and paintings in the collection were created by European artists. Hire an English-speaking guide to take you through the exhibits and talk you through the pieces and the artists’ stories. The standing collection is impressive on its own, but the museum also changes out exhibits regularly. • An amazing expanse of Latin American artwork, plus others, spread over 5 houses, each with its own courtyard. Peaceful. A respite from the city. An absolute MUST if you go to Leon. Allow time to....  more

  • Amazing gallery! Local artists and famous artists (Picasso, Andy Warhol...) Beautiful building and nice stuff. Spend 2 hours. Go on Sunday because they donate the money from all the tickets sold on Sundays.
  • Free on Sundays. Closes at 1600. I could spend at least two hours here. They have a large and diverse collection here, including works from Nicaraguan, Central American, and international artists from as long ago as the sixteenth century to as recent as this one. The building itself could also qualify as art, and frames the works well.
  • Surprising museum. Some great local works along with a few internationally known artists: Rembrant, Picasso, Warhol, Basquiat.
  • Really cool art museum! All kinds of art from religious, to classical, to modern. You need to wear a mask to go in. Around 250 cordobas for two people.
  • Beautiful museum with a large collection of western art and many Latin American artists as well as national artists.
