Ojo de Agua, Isla de Ometepe

(4.1/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Cool off at Ojo de Agua, a natural spring. Dip into the clear, cool water, brought to the spring by an underground river that has been purified by the nearby volcano. The soft, mineralized water offers an inviting moment of respite from the heat of the area, and gets constantly renewed and replenished by the spring. Separated into two main pools, the springs have seen an upswing in popularity with locals and tourists alike, drawing significant crowds on weekends and holidays. Sit on one of the deck chairs and relax under the shade of the umbrellas, treating yourself to some fresh coconut from the onsite vendors. Make Ojo de Agua a centerpiece of your Isla de Ometepe vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Isla de Ometepe trip generator.

  • These springs have it all, stunning setting, friendly locals, great facilities, fresh coconut juice (with rum if that tickles your taste bubs). The water is fresh and clear and there's plenty of chair...  more »
  • I expected to see a natural site but in reality it is just a big swimming pool with lots of people in it.  more »
  • You can bring your lunch and your consumption on the spot, but it will charge you an extra at the entrance to this effect. The unique restaurant-bar on the site prices double or almost of what can be found in the markets (ex: Pali at Mayogalpa)-this is in my opinion a little tourist catches. I don't remember the cost of the extra at the entrance, but this you will be certainly cheaper if you plan to spend part of the day, which is perfect to relax after having mounted one of the volcanoes the day before. It's a large pool who have to given a natural look, don't expect something wild.

  • Good not great Its basically a big swimming pool with very transparent water. You can have drinks by the pool. Couldn't see any springs and the water is not hot
  • Great place to take a swim! Amazingly clear mineral water bubbling up through the rocks feeding two small man made lagoons. Supposedly the water had healing properties.... That might have something to do with the water side bar service! They also have trails and some wild monkeys were hanging out in the trees! A rope swing and tightrope across the water add entertainment to the poolside lounge chairs and friendly service!
  • Great place to hang out and freshen up, incredibly clear fresh water
  • gorgeous, if a bit touristed, natural spring with gardens, facilities, and nearby restaurant. a terrific and relaxing location.
  • First time going here on my bike from Moyogalpa and since it was low tourist season there weren't that many people but I highly recommend going here it only costs $3 US and the restaurant bring food out to you. Very chill and super fun to relax or have fun. They also have a slack line for those interested.
