Ojo de Agua, Isla de Ometepe
Categories: Fountains, Tourist Spots
Cool off at Ojo de Agua, a natural spring. Dip into the clear, cool water, brought to the spring by an underground river that has been purified by the nearby volcano. The soft, mineralized water offers an inviting moment of respite from the heat of the area, and gets constantly renewed and replenished by the spring. Separated into two main pools, the springs have seen an upswing in popularity with locals and tourists alike, drawing significant crowds on weekends and holidays. Sit on one of the deck chairs and relax under the shade of the umbrellas, treating yourself to some fresh coconut from the onsite vendors. Make Ojo de Agua a centerpiece of your Isla de Ometepe vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Isla de Ometepe trip generator.

Great place to take a swim! Amazingly clear mineral water bubbling up through the rocks feeding two small man made lagoons. Supposedly the water had healing properties.... That might have something to do with the water side bar service! They also have trails and some wild monkeys were hanging out in the trees! A rope swing and tightrope across the water add entertainment to the poolside lounge chairs and friendly service!
Very nice place to swim, fresh water and the best of clear water. Look like a big swimming pool but this is natural!
Fun day trip. Perfect for a hot day. The water is cool and crisp
A much needed escape from the stifling heat, but hard to get here via public transportation. The freshwater pool caters to tourists, but the vendors aren't pushy. Would recommend visiting in the morning if you want some quiet, the backpackers start filtering in during lunch.
What a great way to spend the day. Water is clear and cool. Entrance is $3 per person. They have a swing and a tight rope. There is even a restaurant where you can order food and drinks.
