Ojo de Agua, Isla de Ometepe
(4.1/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Cool off at Ojo de Agua, a natural spring. Dip into the clear, cool water, brought to the spring by an underground river that has been purified by the nearby volcano. The soft, mineralized water offers an inviting moment of respite from the heat of the area, and gets constantly renewed and replenished by the spring. Separated into two main pools, the springs have seen an upswing in popularity with locals and tourists alike, drawing significant crowds on weekends and holidays. Sit on one of the deck chairs and relax under the shade of the umbrellas, treating yourself to some fresh coconut from the onsite vendors. Make Ojo de Agua a centerpiece of your Isla de Ometepe vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Isla de Ometepe trip generator.

  • We went around 9:15 a.m., there were few people. Too bad that there is water that is natural.

  • That is a great spot to cool down. The water was so refreshing. You do have to pay to park though. They have a restaurant on site but we didn't eat there.
  • Good place to swing by as you're exploring the islands for a relaxing dip in mineral springs. Note: this place is not some fancy gringo resort though, it's a cheap place and will have a lot of locals ...  more »

  • Good not great Its basically a big swimming pool with very transparent water. You can have drinks by the pool. Couldn't see any springs and the water is not hot
  • Great place to take a swim! Amazingly clear mineral water bubbling up through the rocks feeding two small man made lagoons. Supposedly the water had healing properties.... That might have something to do with the water side bar service! They also have trails and some wild monkeys were hanging out in the trees! A rope swing and tightrope across the water add entertainment to the poolside lounge chairs and friendly service!
  • Great place to hang out and freshen up, incredibly clear fresh water
  • gorgeous, if a bit touristed, natural spring with gardens, facilities, and nearby restaurant. a terrific and relaxing location.
  • First time going here on my bike from Moyogalpa and since it was low tourist season there weren't that many people but I highly recommend going here it only costs $3 US and the restaurant bring food out to you. Very chill and super fun to relax or have fun. They also have a slack line for those interested.
