Ojo de Agua, Isla de Ometepe

Cool off at Ojo de Agua, a natural spring. Dip into the clear, cool water, brought to the spring by an underground river that has been purified by the nearby volcano. The soft, mineralized water offers an inviting moment of respite from the heat of the area, and gets constantly renewed and replenished by the spring. Separated into two main pools, the springs have seen an upswing in popularity with locals and tourists alike, drawing significant crowds on weekends and holidays. Sit on one of the deck chairs and relax under the shade of the umbrellas, treating yourself to some fresh coconut from the onsite vendors. • We have come here to end the day for an hour and it was very relaxed. Clear water and very large, surrounded by woods in the smaller hikes are possible. It cost $5 admission. Since we were rather late against 16: 00 there was not so much going on, but looked as if it is crowded during the day.

  • We went twice. Once was good the second time pretty crowded. I'd recommend going earlier and on weekdays. People put it down cause it's built like a pool, but without the walls it would be a muddy mes...  more »
  • This place was not what we expected, the water was nice but the location was really crowded, the toilets and changing rooms were disgustingly dirty, you are better off going to the beach and saving th...  more »

  • Lounge, soak, cool off and repeat. It was quiet when we were here, however you can see that it is busy in peak season. Great place to escape great. Poolside drink service. Tree swing and slack line. Tiered seating in water. Pools are cool and fed from underground. Neat experience.
  • Loved, loved, loved this place. Not sure if did actually make me younger, but I enjoyed my time there nonetheless. We had lunch at the cafe as well, and it was great and inexpensive! Must do while on the island.
  • This is one of the best places to visit on Ometepe! As a tourist, it costs $5 per person to enter. The area is gorgeous and the water is so clean and perfectly refreshing. There is a rope swing you can use as well as a coconut vendor who sells them for $1 each or $3 with rum in them. He'll even crack open your coconut when you're done with it so you can eat the coconut meat inside!
  • It's like a pool but natural. The water is very blue that it looks like glowing. It costs $5 to get in. They have some stores and drinks. They also have a stackline and tarzan swing on. It's nice to hangout for 1 or 2 hours. It could get clouded.
  • Very pretty and the water is cool and clean. They also have seating and make coco locos from fresh coconuts (open a coconut, pour rum in it, throw a straw in there). Great for casual swimming or lounging to cool off. They also some short nature trails to walk on. Overall not to be missed if you're in Omatepe!
