Laguna Charco Verde, Isla de Ometepe
Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Verdant nature trails with looming trees, lovely dark-sanded beaches, and excellent swimming conditions await at Laguna Charco Verde. Access the lush greenery here via a short walking trail, and then enjoy swimming in the calm waters. Note that while the water appears murky, this is not due to lack of sanitation but rather the sediments from the bottom of the lake mixing with the water. Local legend tells of an ancient, lanky witch called Chico Largo, who occasionally appears in the lake to go fishing. It starts with the enclosure to butterflies and birds, great! Then traversed a garden where the flowers are beautiful. Then enter the forest. My wife and I drove all the trails by taking our time. We saw birds, monkeys, butterflies and iguanas. Very good time, including the break on the beautiful beach. Pretty small watchtowers overlooking the lagoon. The steepest trail has allowed us to see monkeys close enough.show original
