Mi Museo, Granada

4.2
#2 of 6 in Museums in Granada
Survey a vast collection of pre-Columbian ceramics dating back thousands of years at Mi Museo. The museum's collection includes around 15,000 pieces of artisanal handicrafts--some from as far back as 2000 BCE; displays feature historical or biographical information in both English and Spanish. The restored colonial building housing the museum dates back to 1868. Take an English-speaking guide to illuminate your visit and put the ceramics in context. Put Mi Museo into our Granada driving holiday planning site and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • This is an impressive little museum well-worth the $5/pp entrance fee. You'll learn all about the indigenous cultures and migrations from Mexico and access innumerable ancient pottery and stone sculpt...  more »
  • Good info (some in English) on the history of the peoples and cultures of this area, and when I was there, a very interesting small exhibit of contemporary art at the back.  more »

  • A great place to know about Granada its history and customs
  • What might have been an institution worthy of one's support is yet another awful example of an organization which has embraced discrimination in all its ugly forms by charging those of foreign origin unconscionably high entry fees. Even students are not spared the despicable treatment; I went with some fellow student colleagues and they wouldn't dare treat us equally and fairly. I and a friend with "whiter" skin were subjected to outrageous questioning regarding our national origin and sought to be slapped with entrance fees over 1,500% higher than those of our colleagues. Such outrageousness cannot be condoned.
  • Great experience!
  • My Museum in Granada, Nicaragua my Museum is a nice place and with lots of educational, cultural and archaeological information. It is an ideal place for people of different ages and for those who want to learn more about our culture and history. Also, there are function rooms for conferences, a place to read quietly, have a delicious coffee, buy souvenirs and learn Spanish (Learn SPANISH)
