Islets of Granada, Granada
(4.2/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web)
Islets of Granada represents an archipelago created when the nearby volcano's cone was strewn across the lake thousands of years ago. The small islands have since become covered with vegetation and are a haven for birdlife. Today many of the islands have houses, hotels, and shops on them. Take a boat tour or hire kayaks and sail around the area, observing monkeys and wading birds. You'll stop off at certain islets for refreshments and a swim. Consider bringing some fruit along to feed the monkeys. Plan your Islets of Granada visit and explore what else you can see and do in Granada using our Granada family vacation planner.

  • We made a trip in boat with motor in the islets of Granada, during the tour you can see the beautiful islands product of the eruption of the volcano Mombacho, it's hard not to go to Granada and not go to the islets, whenever I'll always admire the natural beauty. It is worth to learn the history of the area and at the same time relax during the trip. Rich Islands can be seen and famous of Nicaragua (although this does not seem to me very nice) and you can see many small islands of the locals and their customs, you can see local fishermen in their work. See birds in the area and visit the Monkey Island, although they are not native because they were taken to that island to protect them, worth may also bring a little bit of fruit to see them up close. At the same time you can see the panoramic view of the city of Granada and the Mombacho Volcano.

  • We did the tour with Kayak with Vladimir and it went very well. Practically the islets for us and we could feed the monkeys on the island of the apes...

  • Is a must-visit to be made in the group two, just, by boat, raft, kayak or in any other way you can imagine. I did launch a roughly 2:30 hours I heard the bit, but I realized that there would be many possibilities and variations in these tours, so who wants to know this little paradise, do the negotiating, through their financial availability and the time you have available. Things to see and do there will be no shortage of. The most common is a 2 to 3 hour ride by isletas, stopping at a restaurant to eat or drink anything typical. The stroll through the islets or isletas, is very scenic and with close encounters with the flora and fauna, which keeps the cameras always in action, being one of the most photographed sights and shot the Monkey Island, that is, that almost exclusively has monkeys, because they are spread over other islets. To pass through it, the little monkeys jump by branches of the trees, they do everything to gain attention and be rewarded. (I'm no apologist to feed wild animals. Be conscious of your actions.) The small islands, when they have sufficient size, are mostly occupied by houses, beautiful houses, gardens, well cared for and very tasteful. Some of them are true luxuries and are available, for those who have some milhões to dispense. Are belonging mostly to foreigners, but also the isletas are inhabited by Nicaraguans who make them their permanent residence. The islets are in the gigantic Lake Nicaragua under the observation of the imposing Volcano Mombacho, responsible for the creation of this wonder. The ride is quiet and exciting sensorially. It's good to do at any time of the day and relax and guarantee a good time. Imagine that you can also stay in one of these islets or during the ride enjoy a pool in one of the houses or restaurants, or even dive into the waters of Lake Nicaragua or practice water sports. A little paradise to your waiting.
