Originally built in 1539, the church was razed by pirates in the mid 17th century and rebuilt with its current Baroque facade in the 1780s. Restored with an ornate interior in the 1860s, the church today contains an image of the Virgen de Fatima, a sacred object that draws many pilgrims. • worth going up for the fantastic views! Lots of opportunities for 360 views and pics. The steps going up are narrow, so difficult if a bit claustrophobic.
  • Not as restored as some other churches in town but beautiful nevertheless. The view from the bell tower is fabulous.
  • Walking up to the bell tower was crazy - a very dizzying vertical climb but SO worth it! The front desk employee was talking on his cell phone while we paid admission to the tower, so we could have ea...  more »

  • I had a very negative experience here. The man at the desk was rude and unhelpful. Like every where in Nicaragua they had no change. No problem but he got very defensive, wouldn't cooperate and then, gave change to locals when he couldn't to guests. It just leaves such a negative impression of Granada, such a shame
  • The church is decent but the main highlight is climbing to the top of the belltower. It costs 25 Cordobas or $1 to get up. You climb a tight spiral staircase to get there. You get good views of Granada but not quite as impressive as the church in Leon, still worth 15-30 minutes of your time.
  • You can go on the bell tower for 1$. You have a great view over Granada. The best time would be just before sunset. There is a great light over the city.
  • For a small fee you can take the step steps up to the top of the bell tower - if it's a clear day it's well worth doing it, the views are stunning - all the colourful architecture and the lake in the background.
  • Great view of the city, and a lovely church with a low price for a tour
