The Lost Spring, Whitianga

4.4
#1 of 9 in Nature in Coromandel Peninsula
A getaway from the stress of everyday life surrounded by native bush and ocean sounds, The Lost Spring offers therapeutic natural thermal pools decorated with golden leaves and shaded with hibiscus flowers. The professional staff of the spa mix Eastern traditions with modern Western therapies. Take a soothing stroll along the pathways that wind between the pools, through tropical foliage, across a bridge, and through caves filled with rocks and crystals. The onsite restaurant offers fresh and healthy Pacifica cuisine and a view over a beautiful lagoon. Opt for a couple's massage or have a cocktail and settle back, listening to the sounds of water running from pool to pool mixed with soothing Polynesian music. We popped in here for lunch. The surroundings are just magnificent and tranquil. We both ordered the Thai beef salad. What a feast for the eyes and palette. Would love to have tried their evening menu...  more »

  • The Lost Spring is not necessarily a breathtaking attraction but is a great place nonetheless to relax after a long day. Users can choose to soak in pools of water of different temperatures. The water quality is acceptable, although the occasional debris floats by you. The poolside service was efficient and we were charged NZD$10 for a platter of chips at the end of our experience. There is only one shower. Be advised that the promotion described on a Go Rentals brochure is no longer valid at this location. The counter staff were friendly and receptive to negotiation when we encountered a problem.
  • Not quite what I expected, but an enjoyable experience nonetheless. Pricey, a little touristy, and not the natural wonder or spectacle of other similar thermal springs around NZ, but still worth a visit if you enjoy hot pools.
  • Beautiful place. A real special luxury experience.
  • Amazing place to go and relax. Thoroughly enjoyed it
  • Very nice! Would recommend as a pamper destination. Lots of packages to choose from and the layout is lovely
