  • We came here based on the reviews and were not disappointed. The checkout, you will be warmly welcomed and gets a very detailed and individual introduction to the Museum. That got very excited us. The exhibition with the domestic animals is very nice and clean. We were able to observe the Kiwis and had our fun and funny animals. The exhibition of furniture and houses on the first floor shows a little how the British here have begun to live. Very nice, we found the exhibition on the first world war, the then local "Straus-like animals" with skeleton, which was found only 3 years ago and the information on the Maori, whaling. Very informative. Also the tour outside the original houses and the old church was very nice to see.

  • This excellent venue is based around 'Glorat', the old Carter homestead built in the early 20th century by a doctor. It's a wonderfully preserved example of good rural New Zealand architecture, with f...  more »
  • Worth a visit. Kids really enjoyed being able to see the Kiwis. The Museum had a lot of great displays we all enjoyed. Easy to get to and easy parking.

  • Great experience! Seems a bit dear at first, but I'm so glad I did it. The rangers love their job and tell you anything you want to know about Kiwi birds. They're experts! Great job guys.
  • Mostly came here for the Steam & Model Railway Club, which was a lot of fun. Try to get here on day when the train is running and club members are around. Members were very happy to talk about the steam engine collection and the train ride was a hit with the kids.
  • One of the quieter Kiwi displays in NZ. There is also a great little local museum to look around upstairs.
  • Lot of things to do , and see !!!
  • no need to spend $ 25 to hope to see kiwis! aim rather the Auckland zoo where you can see them live and the Wellington Museum, perfectly stuffed!
