Categories: History Museums, Museums
Kiwi North: Museum, Kiwi House and Heritage Park invites visitors to learn about New Zealand's native wildlife, including the iconic kiwi, and the history of early settlers. Watch kiwis foraging for food in the nocturnal kiwi house, and learn everything about kiwi conservation. Try to spot the tuatara and geckos, too. When you are finished viewing the flightless birds, head to the onsite museum and discover interesting stories about the area's history. Home to Taonga, or Maori treasure, the museum features over 40,000 items in displays of early settler social history and natural history. We came to see Kiwis from near, and we had the chance to see them for a long time, just in front of us, walking, eating, running! They are so funny and so cute!
Great experience! Seems a bit dear at first, but I'm so glad I did it. The rangers love their job and tell you anything you want to know about Kiwi birds. They're experts! Great job guys.
Mostly came here for the Steam & Model Railway Club, which was a lot of fun. Try to get here on day when the train is running and club members are around. Members were very happy to talk about the steam engine collection and the train ride was a hit with the kids.
One of the quieter Kiwi displays in NZ. There is also a great little local museum to look around upstairs.
Sabine le Moigneno need to spend $ 25 to hope to see kiwis! aim rather the Auckland zoo where you can see them live and the Wellington Museum, perfectly stuffed!show original
