  • Kiwis are hard to spot and often in their nests so not always fabulous but the natural (as possible) environment is well done. Staff are helpful. Tuataras are a great attraction.
  • We walked listening to the birdsong in the peaceful atmosphere over sweeping lawns past a magnificent Hoop pine planted in 1900, past a huge evergreen magnolia and other old trees, round the historic ...  more »
  • We didn't really take advantage of everything this place had to offer as we really only wanted to see a Kiwi. We did! The viewing set was good and we got an excellent look at a kiwi from about 2 metre...  more »

  • Great experience! Seems a bit dear at first, but I'm so glad I did it. The rangers love their job and tell you anything you want to know about Kiwi birds. They're experts! Great job guys.
  • Mostly came here for the Steam & Model Railway Club, which was a lot of fun. Try to get here on day when the train is running and club members are around. Members were very happy to talk about the steam engine collection and the train ride was a hit with the kids.
  • One of the quieter Kiwi displays in NZ. There is also a great little local museum to look around upstairs.
  • Lot of things to do , and see !!!
  • no need to spend $ 25 to hope to see kiwis! aim rather the Auckland zoo where you can see them live and the Wellington Museum, perfectly stuffed!
