  • One of those magical to special places in New Zealand. Beach with a special atmosphere, which underline the mountains white stones are described the messages, names, and images. Be sure to stop on the way just watch out for "biting midges" of those there is also plenty of insect repellent, but it works, of course, local. :-)

  • Bruce Bay was not in my plans to visit, I assure you. But is that there is no choice but to go with her when coming from the South want to upload via the "Scenic Route" of the West Coast. This road, that after up and down mountains and valleys approaching the coast to continue for several miles, it allows us to enjoy this strange Beach and its abstract tree inhabitants. We find it in front, with the vastness of the sea as a framework. The Golden Sands, the radiant Sun, and the wooded hills to the sides, as wanting to enter the ocean... And suddenly the trees. Not expected in the October, which corresponds to the cold spring in the southern hemisphere, that the beach was full of bathers, but much less that logs and fallen trees are required thereby with the landscape that comprise a single plastic identity and a unique ecosystem. We got out of the car and before entering the beach we saw a lot of pebbles of snowy whiteness, until we get closer. The visitors have taken the habit of leaving messages written or painted on the polished surface of the stone, thus we find love messages, dates of visit, painted landscapes to the oil. It is the impression that causes the place, that "something" that makes it unique. We went from long and step on the sand. The long stretch of fine land, formed by tiny particles of shells, stones, corals and shells remains served as habitat forced to hundreds of trunks and branches of large lean on it. The explanation is very simple. The area is a victim of frequent storms and floods, and rivers drag everything they find in their path to the sea, is therefore normal that the sea returns all these remains grounded, and have thus again appear on the sand, now forming part of a hypnotic landscape that we don't have more choice but to admire. A contrast of colors, forms without form, of beings that were once alive which now lie petrified by the Sun and salt water effect, but at the same time serve as shelter and nest thousands of animals such as sea gulls, seals and tiny insects who live among them. A vivid picture, a nature not dead, that contrary to the late and late still being uprooted.

  • Voted among the 10 most beautiful beaches in New Zealand. It can only be because of the stunning views. You need to check them out fairly fast or the Sandflies get dinner. Its not a swimming or sit on...  more »
