  • Very different from that other big museum in Wellington. This one is focused on the history of the city, which was quite interesting. Lots of focus on ships and events in the city. Very interactive. W...  more »
  • Enjoyed Wellington Museum every bit as much as Te Papa. A little quieter, smaller and no cafĂ© but excellent quality exhibits and better understanding of the history of this city.  more »
  • Wow! What a great museum, fantastic coverage of the Wahine disaster and many other historical things. Loved the timeline - through the years.  more »

  • An absolutely amazing and interactive museum. Very educational for adults and children. They successfully created a truly immersive experience, full of cool facts and interesting information. Nothing like the boring museums you usually see nowadays. I actually really loved this place. It is my favourite in the wellington region. It's a must go for any tourist. It's free.
  • Good for a rainy day in Wellington. The curators made a great effort to make the exhibitions interesting for everybody and prepared information in a good fashion.
  • This is really a great museum and well worth the trip. It really does a great job of telling the history of wellington. Makes me proud to live in this city.
  • It's a must-see for visitors to Wellington. And even though it's relatively small it is absolutely packed with interesting bits of history of the local area and NZ as a whole. Do not think you can run through this in an hour or two and do it any justice.
  • Fantastic place great for all. Nicely set out and free. Just ask for gold coin donation
