Pay your respects to the fallen New Zealand soldiers from the South African War, World Wars I and II, and the wars in Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam at National War Memorial. First unveiled on Anzac Day, April 25, 1932, to commemorate those lost in World War I, the memorial complex has since expanded to include subsequent conflicts. Walk the grounds to see the tomb of the unknown soldier, the war memorial carillon, and the hall of memories. The impressive, moving monument encompasses history, memory, education, and respect, accented by art and music. • Very moving and impressive memorial to WW1 produced by Sir Peter Jackson. Great way to spend a couple of hours remembering the sacrifice of many. Excellent.  more »
  • We went to the WWI experience and this is just down the hill in found of it. The setup is respectful and simple. It is not ostentatious like some are. It simply reflects the New Zealand attitude.  more »
