Where to stay in Wellington

As an established, modern capital city, Wellington offers accommodations of numerous shapes and sizes. Get a harbor view at a luxury hotel by the waterfront, or enjoy simple rental rooms at one of the many backpacker hostels. Cheaper accommodation lies outside the downtown area, with motels, campsites, and RV parks providing options for those on smaller budgets, and travelers wanting to get out of town and into the rolling, green hills. Wellington benefits from a wide range of transport and a very efficient infrastructure, so you'll have access to attractions no matter where you stay.

  • This was a great market for fresh fruit and vegetables, but nothing else. Good for locals but not so much travellers.  more »

  • What a great way to spend a Sunday morning! Fresh veges from local suppliers, awesome food vendors and entertainers provide a real laid-back vibe. It has become a must-do for Wellington visitors we know. The only blot: way too many plastic bags given out!
  • Best product at the best price. So much better than a supermarket. A must visit every week.
  • Fruit and veggie market at the waterfront with good prices (on average a little bit cheaper than the supermarket). There are also several food trucks around for a cool lunch at the waterfront. Parking space is limited near the market.
  • Cheap fresh produce! Can't buy fruit and veges at the Supermarket again!
  • Lots of great veg/fruit and food stands. Good prices too!
