Frank Kitts Park, Wellington

4.1
#11 of 54 in Parks in Wellington
Go local at Frank Kitts Park, where you can listen to talented buskers, let the kids play, and relax along with other Wellingtonians. The park, named after the city's longest-serving mayor Frank Kitt, represents one of the first areas of the waterfront to be developed back in the late 1980s. Its design was heavily influenced by the Wellington 500 street car race held in the area at the time. The many eateries and cafes close by make it a perfect spot for a snack or meal, while a short walk beside the waterfront will lead you to an art gallery and food market. Our Wellington trip builder app makes visiting Frank Kitts Park and other Wellington attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Located near the Museum and library, on the Waterfront, it is a nice place to walk and contemplate the sea. The contrast between the city behind and the sea, make it a lovely place. To relax a while.

  • The kids loved it and even the adults had fun on the loooooong slide. It's beautiful since it's right off the water. It's a great way to combine a market or the museum with something fun for the kids.  more »

  • Very popular place at summer time. So many people hang around this area. Great area for kids with the play area as well.
  • A great park close to the harbour and town, I never forget this park in my life. when it's having a nice weather, I will enjoy walking there. ALso I can walk into the Tepapa Museum, which is the idiom "kill two birds with one stone". Or some bistro, restaurant, and bar you can jump in for dinner and a drink! (Y)
  • Popular playground. Kids love the lighthouse slide.
