Frank Kitts Park, Wellington

4.2
#10 of 53 in Parks in Wellington
Go local at Frank Kitts Park, where you can listen to talented buskers, let the kids play, and relax along with other Wellingtonians. The park, named after the city's longest-serving mayor Frank Kitt, represents one of the first areas of the waterfront to be developed back in the late 1980s. Its design was heavily influenced by the Wellington 500 street car race held in the area at the time. The many eateries and cafes close by make it a perfect spot for a snack or meal, while a short walk beside the waterfront will lead you to an art gallery and food market. • Wellington-Frank Kitts Park and Wellington's waterfront, both on this website separately listed, merge fluently and follow the same style: here one can also find fine cleaned out, on the one hand the venerable port buildings and old work utensils Caliber (E.g. a huge ship crane), on the other hand modern sculptures from old (greenhouse gas) wood and beams and large flares of metal along the harbour wall directly next to the Park. That fit together perfectly and connects to most modern buildings in the immediate vicinity. Some might say rag to - I was thrilled by the inspiring presentation on basis of a various design.

  • Noodle night market at Frank Kitts Park Wellington Waterfront. A great set up; huge crowd and a variety of Asian food. Due to crowd size perhaps more stalls were needed. Brilliant weather. Well done Wellington
  • Just walked through and it was great. The swings were a little low, but I expect they’re meant to be suitable for children, so all good. The big seagull slide thing is a definite highlight. 10/10 would walk past it again.
  • Nice big playground for kids, an excellent view of the ocean/sea/bay/water (idk), I go there to relax. Its a nice place.
  • Central to everything. Super location for all sorts of events. A great place to meet up.
  • Limited playground which is better for school aged children. Lovely location tho, especially when the ice cream shop is open!
