  • Today, we have made the track with less than 26 degrees and sunshine. 3 hours with many small breaks, a lot of water and lunch at the photo spot. The climb is very challenging but definitely for everyone to create, you must only his inner Schweinehund overcome ;-) If one suffers from knee or band problems, I would advise however, because descent definitely has it all.

  • Definitely worth the effort of the climb! What was good as well as the rise of ca takes 2 h up to "photos pot", and we am going to 7.15 on this mass were otherwise there is a patience then asked :) definitely also the small road to the Summit is still make it is worth for the panorama! Rise at the beginning very steep then more relaxed but continuously demanding... Schedule enough time for breaks and traveling count... with shadow

  • We just completed the Roys peak walk in just over five hours. Although it's a tough walk, it is totally worth it as once at the top you have amazing views over the lake and Wanaka. I would recommend b...  more »

  • Beautiful hiking area, although the hike isn't exactly rugged. Very steep, wide path filled with tourists in busy season. Be prepared to summit with numerous other people and spend some time waiting to get that perfect picture at the top without other people. Either way, it's a beautiful view.
  • This is a serious hike that takes it out of you. It is an uphill battle the entire way up the snaking trail to the top. Be sure to take plenty of water with you and sunscreen because there is practically no shelter. The views along the way are incredible and the peak is absolutely breathtaking.
  • Great day trek with well worth it views. Slightly more difficulty. On sunny days, especially, bring extra water. There are two "peaks": the proper summit, and Roy's Peak Lookout, the latter being about 300 meters lower in elevation.
  • Exhausting but worth it! Bring water, hiking sticks and a swimsuit to cool off in the lake afterwards!
  • The view was amazing, especially looking over Lake Wanaka from the top. Do remember to bring enough water as this is not a short hike, and the track is quite steep
