Goldies has an interesting history as a developed wine estate (one of the earliest I think) on Waiheke Island. The Goldie family started the place and have now donated it to Auckland University as a o...  more »

  • A beautiful chilled out place, we sat on bean bags out in the vineyard and soaked up the sunshine and wine. We were exhausted after cycling around the island and this was the perfect place to chill out!
  • We attended a wedding at The Goldie Room and loved it so much we chose the venue for our own recent wedding in January 2015!! I have been to a number of weddings (10+) both in New Zealand and overseas and must say The Goldie Room is outstanding on every front - excellent food, high quality wine, several fun activities for between the ceremony and reception, and friendly and competent staff (both the wedding planners Charlotte and Kelsey and the service staff on the night). But the massive highlight of course is the amazing natural beauty of the venue, which really needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. The property has a relaxed, rustic, and natural charm which typifies everything great about New Zealand. It has some spectacular scenery including the private beach, native bush and wild flowers, vines on rolling hills, quaint sheds and cellar door, and above all the pohutakawa tree on the hill with views on either side. Planning the wedding was easy as Charlotte is experienced with the venue and was very helpful throughout. Goldie is also great to visit for a casual lunch or wine tasting and we'll no doubt be back many times to visit.
