(4/5 based on 100 reviews on the web)
Sushi and sashimi lovers won't want to miss a trip to Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon Farm, a fascinating tale of aquaculture. The farm breeds freshwater king salmon, hatched and raised in the glacier waters of New Zealand's Southern Alps. The alpine environment provides a unique, fast-flowing habitat for the salmon, enhanced by the change in seasons. These unique conditions yield extremely fit salmon with a low fat content and dense texture. Striving to achieve sustainable aquaculture, the farm encourages breeding by providing plenty of space for the fish to grow with as little human interference as possible. Visit the shop and enjoy the flavor from the comfort of their picturesque patio overlooking the lake, or simply pick some up to go. Make Mt.
