5/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web
Walk or ride a bike along the historical cobblestone of Ohakune Old Coach Road, a path used by drays and carts in the early 1900s to transport passengers and cargo. Over the decades surrounding plant life has grown over the road, but the stones remain, creating the perfect outdoor trail. Identify native birds during your tour, such as falcons and pigeons, and try to catch sight of the Kiwi Rail Overlander train crossing the Hapuawhenua Viaduct each afternoon. Stop to study information panels along the path to learn about the road's history and nearby railway construction.
