For a free attraction, it is very good. For the birds we saw I would be happy paying $5 to $10 per person. You can choose the amount to donate as you enter or leave. We saw a Takahē and a juvenile... more »

This is a very cool little sanctuary that i would recommend to everyone, so many different birds including rare ones and then you can feed the ducks and watch their babies play more »

Fabulous and free!! Very interesting guided tour showing endangered native Birds and their breeding programme, parakeets, ducks and a little owl! Go at feeding time 9.30am in summer. Happens even when raining!

A really nice parklands sanctuary. The enclosures are scattered around and most of the birds are easy to see. Would make a lovely picnic spot. An easy walk from the conservation office along the lakes edge

An excellent place to see some of the native birds. The five star rating is due to the knowledgeable and entertaining guide who took a group of us through feeding the birds. She was simply fantastic and give us such a lot of information. Highly recommended - check for times that the birds are being fed before going.

Unexpectedly great. On the Te Anau end of the Kepler trail. All the birds are rescued after injury. Such a shame NZ's indigenous wildlife has been decimated by clearance for farming
