4.6/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web
Step into the past with a visit to The Elms, Tauranga's historic former Mission Station, founded in 1835. Set in beautiful historic gardens (open to the public every day, all year round) the Mission House, completed in 1847, is New Zealand's finest late Georgian home and has this country's oldest free standing library.

  • A mandatory place to visit if you love history. But there is a need to clarify in advance the work, that would not have to wait long.

  • Well worth a visit if you are interested in New Zealand history. Staffed by knowledgeable volunteers who guide you round the Mission House then leave you to explore. Do find the time
  • Recommend a guided visit at The Elms Mission Station. I visited this place, in conjunction with the Politecnica and could see some more of the Maori culture.

  • Great place for a wedding. It's convenient because it's in the city but it's quiet. Lovely grounds.
  • Brahman mission station
