  • Stunning glassware and very interesting how they make it. Not a place for young children since the items are hand made and very expensive. Bit expensive to watch the demonstration and go thru the gard...  more »
  • An amazing gallery, amazing glass sculpture garden and a viewing room to watch glass being blown. The work for sale in the gallery is amazing, goodness we wanted to buy all the things!!
  • Nothing was free at the Lava Glass except the gift shop, with overpriced glass all around. They charged to watch glass blown, to see the glass garden, and in the coffee shop. The coffee was good as we...  more »

  • Great experience! The glass ornaments taking shape in the hands of the master craftsman is really fascinating. The Glass garden is a great showcase of beautiful glassware in the shape of flowers and ornaments. The coffee and food is great! The unexpected surprise is the Blackforest Rocky Road from the cafe - best in town! A big thank you to the friendly staff @ Lava Glass for making the experience so memorable. Cheers!
  • A brilliant breakfast, served by friendly, helpful staff, followed by a viewing of a glass blower working in the furnace room. Watching the glass blower work, he was happy to chat about the process while doing so, adding a lot of extra details which we craved. A great morning, and the glass garden was lovely and tranquil. Highly recommended .
  • The glass blowing and cafe were awesome. However the whole experience was let down by the woman at the front of the studio who was incredibly pretentious and rude. I recommend the place as a great stop in taupo, it's just a shame to have that experience and last stop of our holiday tainted.
  • Studio and garden experience well worth it; great to see brilliant craftsmen at work enjoying their craft and great value.
  • lava glass is an awesome place to see how they actually make the bowls and vases etc. the entry fee for the workshop and the sculpture garden is $10 and one even gets a discount if he purchases anything fromt eh glass shop. the glass items will definitely cost you and arm and leg if you want to purchase something. But i think the cost is pretty decent looking at the amount of labour that goes behind the making of 1 glass bowl should definitely visit this place.
