(3.3/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
The whole family can explore and play at Huka Prawn Park, New Zealand's only prawn farm. As well as producing over 30 tons of shrimp a year, this quirky aquaculture venture plays host to a wide range of games and activities. Begin your visit with a guided tour of the prawn nursery and hatchery before practicing your putt at the hole-in-one golf challenge, trying your hand at prawn fishing, or resting your feet in the geothermal footbath. Kids will enjoy testing their balance on the adventure walkways and tinkering on the water piano. When hunger strikes, you can feast on your own haul of shrimp or visit the riverside restaurant. • Prawns were terrible, small no flavour and expensive. The service and staff were fantastic but we were ashamed to be kiwis and showcase this food to tourists. We as a group all agreed we would not go ...  more »
  • Nice setting. Very small portions like entree sized but not at all value for money. Bit of a tourist trap really. The whole prawn thing is a bit of fun for kids.

  • Today we went to Huka Prawn Park. We took our 2 boys and a visitor from Sydney. It was the biggest HAVE I've been to in a long time. Between the 5 of us we caught 1 prawn in 2 hours. That was a $90 prawn!? To say that all fishing takes time is true but we don't have to pay $90 for that. As owners you must be rubbing your hands together at all the suckers that wander through your doors. Any wonder your so successful. .people are paying for nothing and your reaping the benifits. Most disappointing. Not very Kiwi at all.
  • Just went on sunday 2/10/16 90% of the waitress at the restaurant are very rude and there service is one of the worst I have ever had lunch at in nz Food was crap which was very disappointing . Prawn fishing was a good experience took a while to get the technique .
  • Nice settings overlooking the Huka Jet jetty. Quite relaxing watching the Huka Jet spins around up and down the river outside when it's not busy. Food is very pricey, the skewer of prawns looked/tasted very commercial, doesn't look like they were from fresh prawns from the prawn farm though.
  • Good good can't go passed the prawns! Good outdoor areas too
  • It's very very disappointing. The prawn ($90/kg) is not fresh at all! It worth nothing. Do not come here, it is a tourist trap!
