Huka Falls tracks, Taupo

#1 of 377 in Trails in New Zealand
Hike or bike the trails around Huka Falls tracks, draining the country's largest lake by surface area and appealing to both amateur photographers and adventure seekers. Just upstream from the mighty falls, the Waikato River enters a rugged canyon and narrows abruptly from 100 m (328 ft) down to just 15 m (49 ft) across. The sudden constriction of the river's flow creates massive pressure that helps make Waikato's dramatic 10 m (33 ft) splash into a freshwater pool all the more spectacular. Walk a footbridge to admire the force of the falls, which the native tribes called "Hukanui," the Great Body of Spray. To get even closer to the roaring waters, try jet boating on the river. • Stunning as always. Just beautiful to walk on the bridge with few long walks which will lead to the DAM and rapids. If you want more fun, try jet boat or cruise which starts at rapids. The water flow and colour is just amazing and very cool to look. Visited twice and absolutely loved both times. Not to be missed if in town
  • Waterfall is strong and very great to experience! Best one in North Island! Toilet are payable 50c and there is a little snack bar at the carpark. If you are short of time , this waterfall only takes 1 min!
  • Huka Falls wil not disappoint it's visitor for It has one of the Greatest and most spectacular View of any waterfall. Millions of gallons of freshwater streams trough its path. There are two Walking Roads One Which is one hour based on the other is much longer. I Would highly recommend this Place If You are in the neighborhood. From the parking Space It's a very short Walk to Falls. Easy accessible for all Ages.
  • A drive up the North Island and you will come across Huka Falls. On a clear and warm day it’s a nice visit, even on a cold day it was busy with a few coach loads of tourists walking about. Quite an impressive sight and something which I haven’t seen before, so a nice quick stop if you are on the way to somewhere. I would say you could spend 1-2 hours there tops.
  • Amazing tourist attraction. Must visit place when going towards taupo. We enjoyed our trip. The helicopter ride was very good too. Range of services available at the attraction
