Mount Paku, Tairua

5.0
#1 of 6 in Things to do in Tairua
Climb to the peak of Mount Paku, a twin-coned volcano that offers 360-degree views of the landscape and coastline. The hike is surprisingly short for such fantastic views, averaging about 20 minutes to reach the top. Stop for some photo ops and check out the educational displays identifying parts of the panorama and the area's history. The trail can get a little tricky and does not always provide handrails, so remember to wear comfortable shoes with good traction. Private residential area off steadily climbed in the car where areas like the gravel road, there is the entrance of the trail. Part of the steep slope is from here to the top of a mountain-climbing for about 15 minutes, but seen from a distance, so lots of stairs, atop a very unstable place whom the craggy rocks. Despite railing, climbed carefully. The trail in the forest, we had Thuy. You can see being exposed on the surface of a mountain large amounts of shells of ancient Shell mounds were. Irie is top is very narrow, almost 360 °, which is near the sea, but sees the town of Tairua, pauanui Beach, were really nice. This is where you want go come on sunny days.
