  • Lovely quiet spot worth a visit. Jude made a great dinner. Few hours spent at the billiards table. Nice wine and comfy bed.  more »

  • We only stopped in for a light bite of lunch after a stroll around the lake, but the service was friendly and prompt. The fish and chips are good (I am told), and the scones and cream were delicious! ...  more »

  • We loved our stay in St Bathans, lovely bar staff with good food and a good drink selection considering we were in the middle of nowhere. (For me this place didn't feel haunted at all - I didn't find out people thought this till I hopped on Google) We will be back again definitely :)
  • After enjoying a beautiful day in St Bathans and setting up camp at the domain, I went to visit the Vulcan hotel and enquire how late they would be open for, a friendly member of staff informed me that it depends and that tonight they had a dinner booking at 6 so the kitchen would be open for dinner until at least seven. I replied that I would most likely see her before then and departed to check on my tent and get changed. Returning to the Vulcan at 6.50pm I entered to a room of (most likely) locals chatting at the bar and a sour looking woman (around her 60's with short bright ginger hair and glasses) who glared at me from behind the bar, I chose to walk around the bar and enter the dining room to see if someone was working there and look for a menu. Now, as I spotted the menu and was about to check it out, this sour looking woman appears behind the counter and vocalises "that's not for you" in a condescending manner. Me "sorry? We were told earlier that we could come in before 7" sour woman "only for people with bookings, you have to make a booking if you want dinner" as she leaned over the counter looking at me like a disgusting bug. I was with my friend and I said "let's go" and we ended up going back to the camp site and completely packing up and leaving because it was my Birthday and I'd been looking forward to eating at the historical Vulcan hotel. I do hope you read this- sour red headed lady who clearly has a very unhappy life. Thanks for making never want to visit this beautiful town ever again.
  • Nice place to stop. The staff were friendly and food was good.
  • Fire hot. Beer cold. You don't need anything else.
