Take a relaxing dip in the spa-like waters of Kerosene Creek, one of Rotorua's best-kept secrets. The name might be a little off-putting, but the water is warm and inviting all year round. Stand beneath the waterfall for a free power massage, or head a little downstream to the smaller pools for some bathing privacy. Keep an eye on your belongings, as visitors occassinally report petty thefts in the area. We stopped by Kerosene Creek and had so much fun in the creek. Once you drive in, there is plenty of space for cars to park. There is also a public toilet you can use to change if needed (no showers)....  more »

  • Incredible. Went here right after hiking to the top of nearby rainbow mountain. These hot springs are not a tourist trap that the rest of Rotorua was. The road back is a little rough, but the creek is amazingly beautiful and the water is nice and hot. Best of all, it's free.
  • Great little free hot spring with small waterfall. About 1km on dirt road from the main road and make walk down river to areas suitable for bathing. Small dump toilet onsite suitable for changing if needed
  • Perfect place for a warm soaking after visiting Waiotapu. There is a bar a few minutes before taking the road to the Greek, be sure to grab some beers or ciders to enjoy while relaxing. The big pool is cool to see, but find yourself a nice spot upstream.
  • Absolutely 100% amazing. You must go if you get a chance, it is an experience like no other. The waterfalls are stunning, and the water is nice and warm. Perfect for a cold drizzly day when you need warming up!
  • Good for a free dip, but don't expect anything too big. Also bring shoes you don't mind getting muddy if it's been raining!
