Blue Lake, Rotorua
(4.5/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Scientifically confirmed as the clearest freshwater lake in the world, Blue Lake ranks as a top attraction for New Zealand tourists. This body of water lies in the northern part of the Southern Alps, in the Nelson Lakes National Park conservation area. Historically, the lake was used by the Maori people during funeral ceremonies, and is therefore considered sacred. Today, you can take a helicopter ride over the water to get the best views, or hike around the park to see it up close. • Nice place for a look if you passing. Very close to Buried Village so worth the time if you there. The lake is lovely and the green lake is also nearby. There is a car park and you don't have to walk ...  more »
  • A beautiful view where there are two adjacent lakes with distinct colours. Search up the history and current state of the two lakes, eye-opening! Definitely a must visit if visiting Rotorua.
  • I came by chance shortly behind the Redwoods on this Lake. Since it was a beautifully sunny day I have spontaneously unwrapped the bath clothes and a round went swimming: cold but refreshing! : O The Lake is perfect to relax, either for a few hours or a whole day. Toilets and changing facilities are available. I suspect in the high season a recreational craft or Jet gravel and Kayaks are here on the way, with me it was wonderfully quiet end of November.
