Bridal Veil Falls, Raglan

4.7
See the dramatic Bridal Veil Falls, shooting out from the basalt cliff face and plunging into the rock pool below. Reach the top of the cliffs via a short walk through the flourishing tawa tree forest, and admire the 55 m (180 ft) falls from above at the first two viewing platforms. Halfway down a steep set of steps you will find a third viewing platform, and at the very bottom a viewing bridge offering additional vistas of the surrounding area . • The gravelroad from Kahwia, as sometimes described, is closed. So all accessible from Raglan via an asphalt road. The descent and climb of 265 Act is really worth it.

  • Good walk, lots of stairs. Good fitness & mobility required. Narrow walkways, well formed. Not pram or wheelchair suitable except for the viewing platform at the top of the waterfall - nowhere safe to leave prams so best to leave the pram at the car and carry small children if you want to journey to the base of the falls.
  • It is a nice little walk with the family in tow. My youngest (5yrs old) managed it with ease...though he was tied by the end. Walking to the top lookout was easy along a flat trail with the bottom lookout only accessible via stairs. On the day that we visited the parking was limited as the track was quite busy.
  • My partner and went for the walk and it's well worth it with several magical views of this beautiful waterfall. . For a short walk it's quite strenuous, especially coming back up, but it's well worth the effort. We had the added bonus of getting to see a feeding kereru only a few feet away from us
  • Spectacular place and well worth a detour from wherever you are heading. The falls are a short walk (5 min) through the jungle at which point you hit the viewing point at the top of the falls. This is spectacular but the real magical view is from the bottom. The walk to the bottom is a further 10 mins each way but highly recommended. Truly spectacular. My dad was actually moved to tears :-)
  • Beautiful falls. Can't swim there due to farm runoff so don't bring your swimming togs. Maps says it's only a 600m walk but this takes you to the top of the falls. It's about the same again down steep stairs to the bottom of the falls. Nice walk though and worth the mission.
