Shred some powder and take in the alpine scenery of The Remarkables Ski Area. This snow sport resort boasts a versatile terrain along with a wide range of facilities to appeal to experts and first-timers alike. An early learning center, designed for kids from three months to 15 years, helps young visitors build up their skills and confidence. After a long day on the slopes, refuel at the onsite restaurant, cafe, coffee bar, or, for an extraordinary experience, the mountaintop ice bar. With superb views and ample outdoor seating, including comfy beanbags, it comes as no surprise that this is one of the resort's most popular apr├Ęs-ski spots. • Although it was icy on the day we've been there but in general, I liked it as they have everything you need to ski (skis, poles, helmet, boots, etc) and restaurants, lockers, medical center, etc.  more »
  • We visited here after a day on Coronet Peak - both very good. We found The Remarkables very busy but worth the drive  more »
  • Even though there was no snow in December the drive up to the remarkable ski fields is unreal, you can only imagine the loads of ski fanatics that take this route during the ski season  more »

  • The Remarkables are remarkable! Great set up. Huge cafe so that everyone can find a seat. Good food and coffee. Typical mountain prices. You can take your own food if you want to save money. They have self assist lockers which work really well. Staff are super friendly and happy. Such an awesome ski resort. We will definitely be back.
  • Came up using the shuttle service from town which was really convenient. It was handy buying the ski pass and bus pass in town so I could just head straight to the lifts when I arrived. The snow is decent, particularly in the higher areas. I found that the snow on the sugar bowl chair to be really nice. The trails around the shadow basin were also quite nice. There was also a lookout at the top of the shadow basin chair which looks out onto Queenstown. Be wary that it requires a short trek to the lookout and riding down requires a fair level of skill. The cafe at the base is quite nice. One side has more expensive food like steak sandwich while the other has cheaper options like loaded kumara fries and pies. Fairly large dining area inside and out. With the buses, they start heading back down to the station from 1.30pm. Really nice place to spend the day.
  • Small ski area (when compared to Nth American ski areas) but masses of off-piste to explore. It's the highest mountain in Queenstown i.e. generally better snow conditions.
  • Safe and easy drive up the mountain doesn't take long at all to get there very well worth going up there and being with the clouds and looking down on Queenstown and the whole of the area it's simply a stunning place to go typically New Zealand just pull off the side of the road a few minutes out of Queenstown and carefully drive up and navigate the corners corners really amazing
  • Special place to hike in tye warmer months.. awesome Snowboarding in the winter....

Where to stay in Queenstown

To enjoy views of Lake Wakatipu in a luxury setting, try one of the many boutique and long-established hotels of the downtown area. As a resort town, Queenstown also offers a range of more modest accommodations, ideal for adventurers, backpackers, and those eager to spend more time outside than in. These come in the form of hostels, rental apartments, campsites, and suburban motels. A good local bus service provides connections between the downtown and suburban areas, and out to the surrounding attractions, and many accommodations offer package tours.
