The Remarkables Ski Area, Queenstown

(4.4/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Shred some powder and take in the alpine scenery of The Remarkables Ski Area. This snow sport resort boasts a versatile terrain along with a wide range of facilities to appeal to experts and first-timers alike. An early learning center, designed for kids from three months to 15 years, helps young visitors build up their skills and confidence. After a long day on the slopes, refuel at the onsite restaurant, cafe, coffee bar, or, for an extraordinary experience, the mountaintop ice bar. With superb views and ample outdoor seating, including comfy beanbags, it comes as no surprise that this is one of the resort's most popular apr├Ęs-ski spots. Gear up at the snow-sport store, rental spot, and repair service, all contained in the resort. • I learned to board here and cornet peak and by day 3 I was doing the black diamonds :) surf skate so it was fast learning. Have good anti-fog goggle and anti-glare some fun runs, better on the powder ...  more »
  • As New Zealand's highest mountains, the Remarkables are a range of beauty reaching into the heavens. Only some 25km from Queenstown, it is worth visiting.  more »
  • Excellent skiing from June each year, can also get up there for mountain biking in summer. Gets crowded.  more »

  • New facilities. Very well maintained, very clean toilets, good coffee. Good hire equipment, with staff happy to help fit it. Beginners magic carpet lift very close to the cafe building and there is a wide beginners area. Only four chair lifts and there isn't a huge range of runs for intermediate skiers. Great road up to field with fabulous views. Ski field is in a bowl and weather can be quite different from Coronet Peak.
  • Remarkable place to ski. You can take shuttle bus or drive here by yourself, you only need to notice the snow or black ice on the road (If weather is bad). I drive by myself and feel very ok. I am a beginner and sign up a beginner class. Teacher is kind. I have a lot fun today.
  • Slopes werent fully open when I came but nevertheless it was amazing. Highly recommend the Shadow Basin chairlift for any blue slopers. Very few people compared to Curvy basin, just as long if not longer with more wide steep slopes. Very nice.
  • A very fun place to be! Especially during winter. Play with snow and they have restaurant too up there. Easy to access from city.
  • Great snow field. New chair opens up more terrain and the new food outlets are good for on mountain food.
