#1 of 18 in Parks in Queenstown
At Queenstown Garden you can admire the native and exotic plant life, and then play a game of tennis or go ice skating. The garden offers relaxing lake and mountain views from its location on a peninsula of Lake Wakatipu. First founded by the Borough Council of Queenstown in 1887, it has since been an important site for community and sporting events. Athletic types should be sure to make a stop here, where they can play a favorite sport or try something new like lawn bowling or frisbee golf. • We stayed at The Rees twice and Oaks again, both in the "edge" of the Lake, a little further away from the city. We had two paths: one for inside the city, which would be a 20-minute walk of each other by the garden that seamlessly integrate with enough in time, but I think of all the time we've been in Queenstown and only once went by the fastest route, since this garden and his arreadores (go around the peninsula bordering the Lake) were so beautiful that super worth the Trek higher. Wonderful! All draws attention: the stunning nature as the care and maintenance that the human being is dedicated to nature.

  • It's a nice peaceful place to walk around in or play Frisbee golf or have a picnic. There is plenty of parking around the back end and just a short walk to the waterfront.
  • An awesome recreational green space with water on 3 sides. And with free Disk golf facilities.
  • A scenic reserve on a peninsular overlooking the town of Queenstown. Apparently started in 1866 by the first Mayor of Queenstown, it has a range of exotic trees that give spectacular Autumn colour when the leaves turn golden. Otherwise, the area is a little bit tired, a bit dilapidated, and it's clear that the gardens are not a priority for the locals. Nice though. Worth a 30 minute stroll on a warm day if you're walking around Queenstown - and there is a coffee house close by on the lakeshore
  • Love the gardens. Luma festival in winter is great.
  • Have been there with my little sister. She enjoyed a lot to play in Queenstown Ice Arena inside the park.

Where to stay in Queenstown

To enjoy views of Lake Wakatipu in a luxury setting, try one of the many boutique and long-established hotels of the downtown area. As a resort town, Queenstown also offers a range of more modest accommodations, ideal for adventurers, backpackers, and those eager to spend more time outside than in. These come in the form of hostels, rental apartments, campsites, and suburban motels. A good local bus service provides connections between the downtown and suburban areas, and out to the surrounding attractions, and many accommodations offer package tours.
