Peregrine Wines, Queenstown

4.7
#3 of 8 in Wineries in Queenstown
Elegant design meets the rugged, mountainous landscape of Central Otago at Peregrine Wines. Take a moment to appreciate the winery's award-winning architecture, evocative of a peregrine falcon's wing, before tasting their world-class organic wines. Wander along the long rows of their barrel hall, which the tasting room has a direct view into, and breathe in the tantalizing aromas. As well as the region's famous pinot noirs, try their pinot gris and Riesling, and other varieties not typical of Central Otago. The winery also supports conservation efforts to protect birds, such as the falcons which give the winery its name and the distinctive saddleback, a namesake of one of their wines. • The construction already demonstrates that you're getting a different wine: a geometric structure for the wings of a hawk. Inside is very modern, too. The wines are delicious, especially the 2012 Peregrine The Pinnacle that besides delicious has a very beautiful packaging to give away!

  • Such a cool venue, modeled after a peregrine. The wine is excellent too, we got some bottles to bring back to the US!
  • Great wines, bought a couple bottles, the woman helping us was extremely knowledgeable during the tasting and one of the nicest people we have met during our stay in New Zealand. Hands down the best experience we have had at a New Zealand winery.
  • Fantastic experience and one of the best tastings that I have had. Highly recommend.
  • The wine is outstanding and the staff is very knowledgeable
  • One of the most beautiful vineyard tasting rooms around. Lovely staff and gorgeous wine.

Where to stay in Queenstown

To enjoy views of Lake Wakatipu in a luxury setting, try one of the many boutique and long-established hotels of the downtown area. As a resort town, Queenstown also offers a range of more modest accommodations, ideal for adventurers, backpackers, and those eager to spend more time outside than in. These come in the form of hostels, rental apartments, campsites, and suburban motels. A good local bus service provides connections between the downtown and suburban areas, and out to the surrounding attractions, and many accommodations offer package tours.
