Submarine Tour Adrenaline / Extreme Tour
Head into the belly of the beast at Hydro Attack, a tour operator that takes you skidding over and under the waters in a shark-themed covered vessel. See Lake Wakatipu from above and below in a Seabreacher X watercraft, zipping across the waters at an intense 80 km/h (50 mph). Your driver will dive beneath the surface, take you leaping up into the air, then back down. The trip lasts 20 minutes, giving you a fresh perspective on the lake, the surrounding scenery, and what lies beneath. All visitors over six years of age can enjoy the experience. • Our three kids, ages 16, 20, and 23, enjoyed the thrill of the Hydro Attack ride during our visit to Queenstown in December. We got to share in the excitement by viewing the GoPro footage. Our younges...  more »

  • Fantastic experience! My wife and I went out at the same time and we both absolutely loved the experience. This is a must do when visiting Queenstown.
  • Definitely a must-do. We had a lot of fun, and the views were just astonishing.
  • Heaps of fun! It's a short trip but it doesn't compare to any other water experience. Recommend this!
  • Fantastic birthday surprise. The ride is incredible and despite looking scary you are tightly positioned in the craft so that the flight out of the water is not uncomfortable. The underwater experience is fantastic. All the people involved with this operation are friendly and very professional. It is clear that safety is their priority but having fun is top of the list too. Do this ride, you won't regret it.
  • Loved it. Best 20 minutes of my trip into Queenstown. Highly recommend anyone on having a go

Where to stay in Queenstown

To enjoy views of Lake Wakatipu in a luxury setting, try one of the many boutique and long-established hotels of the downtown area. As a resort town, Queenstown also offers a range of more modest accommodations, ideal for adventurers, backpackers, and those eager to spend more time outside than in. These come in the form of hostels, rental apartments, campsites, and suburban motels. A good local bus service provides connections between the downtown and suburban areas, and out to the surrounding attractions, and many accommodations offer package tours.
