Where to stay in Queenstown

To enjoy views of Lake Wakatipu in a luxury setting, try one of the many boutique and long-established hotels of the downtown area. As a resort town, Queenstown also offers a range of more modest accommodations, ideal for adventurers, backpackers, and those eager to spend more time outside than in. These come in the form of hostels, rental apartments, campsites, and suburban motels. A good local bus service provides connections between the downtown and suburban areas, and out to the surrounding attractions, and many accommodations offer package tours.

  • We picked a tour from a brochure in a hotel lobby. Bike hire, 14km ride, easy, end in winery for tasting. Sounds great! We were dropped in arrow town with two bikes and helmets and told to follow the ...  more »

  • Visited as part of a wine tour, were shown around the cave and had a nice selection of wines to try (as well as some small samples of cheese). Guide was very knowledgeable about the wine and found the tour interesting. Pinot noir was so good. Setting in the valley is gorgeous
  • Some of the best wines of the region. Great Pinot Noir and you have to try the Desert wine.
  • Very disappointed to see the wines are more expensive at the property than in shops (same wine, same year, same name, same vineyard, same same). The entry level wines are not so good, especially the ones they make you taste in their cave tour (another disappointment - a tour guided by someone that has no knowledge into winemaking). The single vineyards and their top level wines are excellent, you will need to pay 15 to 25 dollars more if you want to have a taste. The cheese shop is very expensive. We bought 2 cheeses and a baguette to take home and we had to pay as much as we paid for a cheese board for two in a restaurant (same amount of cheese and some extras on the restaurant board).
  • The wines and restaurant are actually pretty good but they prioritise their wine and cave tours too much, it's a bit of a tourist trap. Most other wineries talk to you about the wine during the tasting, they just serve you the drinks and hand you a card with descriptive blurbs. The cave is cool but charging people $18 to see where you store your wine is pretty silly. This is free at most other wineries
  • Very patience master of wine introducing their selection of wine available. Must visit their winery caves - worth every penny! 🍷🍷🍷 They have outdoor seating and cheese shop too.. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
