We were looking forward to a walk around the watergardens and a picnic lunch. The website looked very inviting and said there were picnic areas in the gardens. Upon arriving we were told that that no ... more »

Visited this place as we saw how fantastic it looked on the website. Staff were welcoming and the entrance was open and inviting. There were signs saying no outside food was to be brought onto the pre... more »
Had our wedding there. . Patrick n his famiky were very accomodating. . Turned out well. Hired all 3 venues. They let us come back to do additional photos for no charge.. worked out deals on thr spot - like clean up and soilage charges.. which avoided head aches for us. They need to upgrade their air conditioning though! Was a very muggy night.. toilets had no eater at one stage ..but that was resolved quickly. Had to micro manage their staff with obvious stuff like umbrellas for the rain and shade. Bit of a language barrier.
Visited the gardens with a friend on a Friday - when we first went in we were greeted by a very pleasant young lady and as we wandered through the building to the outside we were anticipating a lovely couple of hours in these gardens - however, on walking around, it appeared to us that the gardens needed a lot of attention - a number of the plants were planted in the wrong areas - Xmas cacti in pots hanging under trees in the cold - These will never bloom - need hot and dry situation. The succulent garden was dead (planted under shading pine trees). Statutes and very odd ornaments dotted around the place did the garden areas no justice whatsoever. . The location is lovely but unfortunately we would not recommend this attraction as a "must see". Our overall opinion is that this business could do with some "expertise" by a person who knows about gardening and where plants should be planted - I don't doubt that the owners try very hard but, frankly, they have no idea. Begonia plants plonked in the cold shaded area, as you walk up to the waterfall. The waterfall is very impressive but that's a natural feature and the ponds at the bottom of the gardens need cleaning out - its a wonder the fish are still actually able to breathe in there. Filter pipes not working and putried rotting undergrowth needs removing - an absolute shame. We managed to stretch our walk out to an hour but our overall opinion is that we could not recommend this attraction as a must see.
Recently went out to lunch there on a Saturday to check the restaurant out, with a view to having a car club lunch there the following Sunday for 30 plus people. The place was deserted with only about 6 people, no food such as sandwiches, muffins or cakes in the presentation cabinet, in fact nothing at all. The menu handed to us was about 50% dearer than the menu available on line, with about a 1/3 of the selection. We got up and walked out. It seems new owners have taken over both the Watergardens and the Cafe, and on this basis they won't be there long.
Ideal place for one day out, we had a good time in the garden with our kids. Nice weather, beautiful garden, wonderful waterfall, hosting by a very nice young couple(new owner). Look forward to the garden high tea
Awesome Garden for Wedding & function venues that only 30mins away from Manukau City , We went there for photo competition loved it very much. It is totally different views with Auckland Botanic Garden that is sitting on the flat land. Fantastic Lotus , Water lilies & beautiful water fall all in one picture, I can't think anywhere else in Auckland I can take the same photo. definitely the must do !!!
