Waterfall
When in Paihia, use the opportunity to take a break and immerse yourself in the scenic natural surroundings of Haruru Falls. While at 5 m (16 ft) the waterfall may not be one of the tallest in New Zealand, it's definitely one of the easiest to reach. After a short walk over a well-maintained trail through lush nature, you'll be able to enjoy the views of the waterfall and relax on one of the benches. Despite not being very tall, the waterfall is fairly wide and carries a lot of water, especially during the colder months. If you're visiting when the weather is chillier, make sure to bring waterproof clothes to protect yourself from the spray. • The falls are good and you can spend good 1-2 hours at the falls depending on the age group you are with. It has good trails. The view point of the falls is sideways hence you do not get a front view.  more »
  • The falls are very relaxing and beautiful. It is easy to reach and very accessible. It is worth the effort to visit.  more »
  • A great bush walk to the waterfall when leaving from the paihia side. It's five km and pays to plan on walking back on the track as otherwise it's the main road. So take some food and drink. The falls...  more »

  • We did the kayak up & walk back. Nice easy walk back with the kids (though it is a long walk for their little legs). The falls were pretty enough but if I had my time again I'd probably go sea kayaking to the islands instead
  • Beautiful falls. Very easily accessible. A safe pool area is there to sit and relax in the stream. The falls are moderately high and good overall views.
  • Nice waterfall but quite a muddy water. Do give the walking track a go just be careful of the early parking closure
  • Natures beauty and power is fierce and this was no exception! One can sit and listen the roar of the falls before even gazing on the power falling over!
  • It's okay. Nothing amazing but the walk from Waitangi is worth it. We were there after a drought so not really impressive but a nice place nonetheless. Recommended if you have 2-3h to kill in the Bay of Islands
