  • The kiwi house is in dire need of renovations. The entrance/gift shop area is very tired and looks the same as when I visited in 1985. I was embarrassed and disappointed to bring my relatives from Eng...  more »

  • There's no better place to see kiwi in New Zealand. Not your usual peer-into-the-gloom experience: thrice-daily, scheduled feeding times guarantee that you will see kiwi right up close. Beautiful larg...  more »

  • Visited in February this year, and were the first people to go through the new kiwi house! We really enjoyed it, and wished we had been able to spend more time here. Staff are fantastic, displays great. Was fascinating watching the kiwis up close. Amazing to see their personalities and habits. Thank you!
  • Amazing time spend with Atu 1 of only 3 big spotted kiwi's in captivity. Great collection of NZ geckos. NZ falcon and other birds. Had great fun looking for the weka that keeps hiding. Paradise ducks - love watching them up close . Black teal, grey teal. Kea and Kaka. Bird lovers paradise. All and all money well spend.
  • Watching the bird feedings and learning about the birds was very fun. We even got to see the kiwi being pretty lively and learned about their conservation efforts. Fun and informative experience with many more birds and creatures than expected!
  • It's awesome just make sure you turn up when the kiwis are being fed. They are elusive and hard to spot when it's not feeding time.
  • Nice place to view a Kiwi, if you are lucky. Probably best to go around feeding time.
