Steampunk HQ, Oamaru
Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Fantastical machines come to life at Steampunk HQ, a complex dedicated to the popular world of Victorian-infused alternative history and artwork. Housed within a real Victorian building, the headquarters feature a wide array of the part-retro, part-futuristic hardware and machinery so iconic of the Steampunk genre. Wander the interior sections, marveling at the collection of clocks, artwork, sculptures, and vehicles that make for a strange combination of sci-fi and historical fiction. You'll have a hard time missing premier creations like imagined Victorian-era rockets, fanciful tractors, and the fire-spewing, drill-tipped, demonic-looking steam locomotive out front. With our international travel planner, Oamaru attractions like Steampunk HQ can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

This is a very cool unique place even if you're not into Steampunk (Victorian goth meets steam power). A cheap way to spend an unusual hour

Wow! Check this artistic step out of the screen from a Mad Max movie for sure you won't be disappointed. So creative and interactive. Best $10 bucks spent.
An interesting collection of weird and wonderful of steam punk creations. Kids will love the place, especially boys as it is hands on in the yard.
10$ entry for an adult. Very lovely museum, if you are in the area, and you like fancy inventions, drop by. Highlight for me is was "The Portal" where you feel like in a endless Matrix.
Very different and interesting. Lots of fun and funky steampunk creations!
Very quirky and surreal. Make sure you go into the portal.
If you like your artwork untouched, plastered on to canvas and stuck on a wall then you'll hate this place. Heavy metal structures, welding, spray paints, flashing lights, creepy noises and all of it touchable and accessible makes for a very entertaining few hours. Take a good camera that can cope with low light conditions and you'll come away with some crazy good pictures! Very, very well done!
