Steampunk HQ, Oamaru

(4.2/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Fantastical machines come to life at Steampunk HQ, a complex dedicated to the popular world of Victorian-infused alternative history and artwork. Housed within a real Victorian building, the headquarters feature a wide array of the part-retro, part-futuristic hardware and machinery so iconic of the Steampunk genre. Wander the interior sections, marveling at the collection of clocks, artwork, sculptures, and vehicles that make for a strange combination of sci-fi and historical fiction. You'll have a hard time missing premier creations like imagined Victorian-era rockets, fanciful tractors, and the fire-spewing, drill-tipped, demonic-looking steam locomotive out front. With our international travel planner, Oamaru attractions like Steampunk HQ can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Unique artwork and interesting setting. You'll not see another place like it. Good for teens and 8-12 year olds.
  • If you in Oamaru you must see the SteampunkHQ. $20 for family pass. It's not massive and we only was in here for 45 minutes but we loved it.
  • Taking on the dark post apocalyptic steampunk theme, no visit to Oamaru is complete, without the reasonably priced $ visit, to this wild wacky fun, Mad Max themed, dark humored, displays of sculptures...  more »

  • An interesting collection of weird and wonderful of steam punk creations. Kids will love the place, especially boys as it is hands on in the yard.
  • 10$ entry for an adult. Very lovely museum, if you are in the area, and you like fancy inventions, drop by. Highlight for me is was "The Portal" where you feel like in a endless Matrix.
