Oamaru Public Gardens, Oamaru

(4.6/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Survey the selection of plant and animal life while taking a leisurely walk at Oamaru Public Gardens, conveniently placed right in the middle of town. The gardens elements include a rhodendron dell and azalea lawn, as well as an aviary and peacock house. A rose garden tops it all off as the main centerpiece. Several ornaments adorn the gardens, but the highlight is the elegant Italian Carrara marble fountain as you enter the lawn from the main entrance. Also keep an eye out for the Wonderland statue, a feature of the gardens since 1926. A children's play area makes this a family-friendly spot. Put Oamaru Public Gardens and other Oamaru attractions into our Oamaru vacation generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • in January it's a pleasure to stroll around in the park full of flowers. There are also very old, stately trees. There is a rose garden, the whole is very well maintained. A very pleasant walk

  • I heard nothing about the landscape architect, but who created whatever this garden really was a genius. Beautifully created, on the water run on slightly undulating terrain, lush and varied planted and superbly maintained. And always again surprisingly. In between times here a Chinese bridge, there a sundial, as a classic fountain. To depart pond, watercourse, rose garden... and only a few steps from the way means same entirely new perspectives. Necessarily look at when the weather is a real gain for the day!
