Farm
Experience life on a New Zealand farm, learn about traditional farming and herding skills, and meet the friendly and cuddly animals at Agrodome. Founded by world-champion sheep shearer Godfrey Bowen back in 1971, the 160 hectare (350 acre) complex serves as both a popular tourist attraction and a fully operating sheep and cattle farm. From the shows displaying various sheep breeds and the clever herding dogs, to the shearing museum and animal nursery, the farm showcases all aspects of rural living in New Zealand. At the farm's kiosk you can find freshly brewed coffee and a selection of snacks. Several ticket packages are available, which you can purchase online. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Rotorua holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Agrodome and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Great fun at the farm show. The animals were great to watch. The presenter was a good laugh! Was a tough crowd to work with since some had trouble understanding what he meant but he managed to work the magic anyway. Didn't get around to doing the back country or farm tour. We brought the farm and rainbow springs package. Although I would probably say I wouldn't visit rainbow springs again as it's not really worth the time.
  • Suitable in all weather. Great insight into cattle and sheep farming. Very lively and informative guides/farmers. Very hands-on with the adult/baby animals (only if you want it to be). Recommend you get there before 3pm so you can book onto the various activities (or book online in advance). You can pet some baby animals and watch a 10 minute sheepdog demo.. But not else much to do there without booking one of the tours!
  • Kids loved it. Feeding all the sheep and lamas. First time saw the Kiwi fruit and Olives plantation. Natural honey and deer horns were also there to view. Time was a bit of a constraint. Could give 15 min more then it will be even better.
  • Customer service at the ticket counter was lifeless, not a single smile, same at the cafe. Tour guide was good. Overall customer service could have been a bit more friendlier.
  • Liked the farm show that goes for a hour. Been here many years ago, this time crowds were small and the presenters videophone just echoed so missed half what he was saying. But the show itself is entertaining
