  • Very relaxing spacious park with lovely gardens, lake and bridges, cafe and great views of Mount Taranaki
  • Easy flat walk but wear sensible shoes. Christmas time is a delight with the lighting display from a week before Christmas until the end of January
  • So relaxing, so lovely to walk around, so many beautiful trees and shrubs. We were too late for the garden cafe, but it looked as though it would have been very good.

  • This is a real local jewel. This place is more than 100 years old and incredibly well maintained. The lagoon and the tea house are a wonderful getaway that are easily accessed via one of the many parking areas. A wonderful labeled collection of local trees. If you haven't been here, you are really missing one of the wonders of the North Island. Yes, it is that good.
  • Fantastic urban park. Once you're inside the park you completely forget that you're inside the city. Beautiful large trees with some great man-made lakes. A wonderful spot to go for a walk.
  • Great place for a stroll around a well maintained garden. Dogs on leashes permitted when no events are taking place
  • This is one of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen. It has an artificial waterfall, and the Japanese flower section is absolutely beautiful. It also has a sense of peacefulness deeply ingrained. It is absolutely brilliant and a jewel in the crown that is Taranaki.
  • The quiet bush-fringed lake is an easy walk and a full tonic for the soul in any weather. Our grand daughter calls this Pukekura the "Dark Park" because of all her memories of visits with mum and dad at night time over the summer months when the council turns the paths and bush areas into a wonderland of light and shadows. When she is older she will no doubt equally enjoy the nightly, free concerts staged there in the summer evenings. Again, with sponsorship from the council and the ample supply of the province's musical talent.
