Coastal Walkway, New Plymouth
(4.7/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Feel the sea breeze, admire the views of Mount Taranaki, listen to the sound of breaking waves, and go for a relaxing stroll, jog, or bike ride at Coastal Walkway. The 12.7 km (7.9 mi) walkway stretches along a large part of the city's coast and serves as one of New Plymouth's favorite outdoor areas. Along its length, the walkway is lined with beaches and picnic areas as well as cultural and historical sites. Look for the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge, an architectural gem spanning the Waiwhakaiho River. If you're bringing your dog along for a stroll, make sure to always keep it on a leash. • Perfect place for a nice walk along the coast. Amazing view of the sea, and gives you a great look at the port as well. Would love to spend a day and walk the entirety of the walk way
  • I wouldn't mind a dollar for every kilometer I've walked on this world-class pathway. Got 20 minutes? Walk it. Got three hours. Walk it. Or bike. Or run. Or take the dog. Or sit down for coffee. Spectacular views of the ever-changing Tasman Sea. Highly, highly recommended.
  • Awesome for taking a stroll, a great asset for New Plymouth
  • A bracing scenic stroll along the New Plymouth foreshore. The path is well maintained and the views are stunning.
