  • As soon as you walk in the door, the staff greets you from behind their desk. They offer a map of the museum and they are so cheerful and welcoming on our first visit, we had some guilt having only a ...  more »
  • When we found that some of the other activities in the area were beyond our budget we opted to stop in for local history,and as a result we learned a great deal...Unfortunately the experience was tain...  more »
  • Not a large Museum but ok to visit if you need to fill in time and to learn about the earthquakes as this was informative.  more »

  • Really disappointing. My first visit to the MTG and man an I glad it was free. Very small exhibitions crammed into a very small space. I used to enjoy going to the old museum and this was a real disappointment
  • A very nice museum with detailed explanations and varied collections. Very nice building too, and it's free. When in Napier don't miss this.
  • Loved the experience. Tinge of sadness remembering the awesomely old cluttered version of the museum. Well worth a look whilst visiting Napier . Some wonderful exhibits inc the 1931 earthquake display .
  • If you don't have big expectations it really worth a look enjoyed the earthquake exhibit it's free which is good for families too
  • If it wasn't free Family would have been disappointed..nothin new same 1931 earthquake thats been done for the last 80 odd years..moari interaction that 80% of the tourist I observed thort was boring and even a mentor guide didnt really understand the ideas .. Out of all the attifacts and paintings and sculptures in storage also paid for by rate payers..Currators chose moari 3D blurred art at tax funded expense ridiculous...
