Landmark
Home to an array of historical buildings, memorials, and other places to visit, Marine Parade stands as an icon of the city. Wander down this popular promenade, a favorite of rollerbladers, and admire its panoply of Art Deco structures, the national aquarium, and all sorts of activity centers. Look for the arch dedicated to the city's revival after a devastating earthquake in 1931, and don't miss the beloved seafront statue of Pania, a mythological Maori figure. After your exploring, you can grab a snack or kick back with a drink at one of the many waterfront cafes and eateries. • Great place to teach little ones about road rules and let them loose on their bicycles/scooters. Even has mini traffic lights and a roundabout! The playground right next door is well designed - different areas for different age groups with lots of shade. Public toilets are close by and clean.
  • Great playground with multiple areas separated by age group. Lots of water fountains and bathroom facilities. Good shady areas with picnic tables.
  • Kids love it.
