Lookout Tourist Spot
Formerly the site of an artillery battery, Bluff Hill Lookout offers a sweeping vantage point surveying the area's coastal scenery. Head uphill via a relatively easy hike, or go by car and take advantage of the parking area at the summit. Upon reaching the top you'll be rewarded with a panorama over Hawke's Bay, the surrounding hills, and the city's working port--one of the country's busiest. You can even sit and enjoy the view from one of the benches in the lookout's small brick shelter. • The trip up the hill is stunning, somewhere to have a picnic and toilet facilities. Can be breezy though well worth it. You can see the entire bay.  more »
  • Great views to the north, over the port of Napier and inland but the special views of the cliffs at Cape Kidnappers are obscured by trees and residences. Worth a look but only half a view. Decent walk...  more »
  • A must,-see when in Napier. Fabulous view over the port. From the bluff, the forklifts, cranes and ships look like Lego pieces. There's also a small but pretty garden, and benches with ocean views. Be...  more »

  • . (03/2017) Beautiful location and stunning views from the top of the hill. Driving up to the hill over a narrow road can be little challenging. Well maintained and lot of parking space. Nice sights of port, bay and wharf from different directions.
  • Great views and well worth the walk, especially on a beautiful sunny Napier day. Great for close up photography of the Cruise ships or the natural sea reefs. Highly recommend for family outings.
  • Lovely spot but very narrow road, don't attempt to take up a large vehicle or campervan. You're best to walk up.
  • Beautiful lookout overseeing Napier. Must see if you want a snap shot with an awesome view.
  • Breath taking views. Can watch the running of the Napier Port for hours.
