A popular recreation area situated between the Waipoua and Ruamahanga rivers, Henley Lake plays home to over 70 species of birds and remains a popular picnic spot among locals. The network of flat trails around the rivers and lake offer an easy way to explore the area on foot or by bike, and also link the lake with Queen Elizabeth Park. Many large open spaces make it perfect for sports or taking the dog out for a walk, while viewing towers around the park offer good views over the grounds.   • This is a lovely spot for a nice walk. I often go to Henley Lake to eat my lunch and to feed the birds. The water has a very high algae rating and caution must be taken if you bring your dogs.
